Product Description

This variety of Black Eyed Susan is among the best border perennials available. The Rubeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' won Perennial Plant of the Year Award in 1999  It is extremely hardy to zone 4 and is also one of our native North American wildflowers. The Rudbeckia Goldsturm goes by a few common names including ;Black-Eyed Susan, Goldstorm Coneflower. This Black Eyed Susan Grows in an upright bushy clump with a purplish brown eye, that looks black from a short distance. It also has a golden-yellow daisy like flower that blooms from mid-summer to fall. The Rudbeckia Goldsturm makes a excellent cut flower and I am sure you will be pleased to know after cut back and fertilized you can expect more blooms in 3-5 weeks, depending on the amount of sun it receives. It grows to 2 feet in height and spreads to close to 2 feet also, with in a couple of years. So with this in mind a few of these plants go quite always if you do not mind waiting. If you want it to fill in the area quickly you can plant more plants close together, just be prepared to split them up in a couple of years, this is not hard to do at all. That being said the Goldstorm Coneflower does like to live in the full sun but can handle some part shade. The Goldsturm is very attractive to butterflies and songbirds and is quite deer resistant. It can also easily be divided in early spring. A good companion plant for Coneflower, Pennisetum, Tall Garden Phlox, Russian Sage and Cat Mint, Joe Pye Weed Eupatorium.
