Eastern Star has big, red flowers with almost light red centers.This Dianthus has a velvety appearance which is highlighted by subtle wisps of soft pink along the edges. Unlike most Dianthus it gives off the spicy scent of cloves. Eastern Star's blooms are most intense in early summer, it will rebloom in the fall if spent flowers are removed. Eastern Star has evergreen foliage and is a glaucous blue-green, forming compact mounds about 7" tall and wide.
